The Guerra Story
Let me introduce you to the Guerra Story! Guerra Athletics was officially founded in 2023, but it has been the brainchild of our founder, Irene Oseguera, for the last two years. During that time, Irene was trying to figure out how to gather the timing, money, and courage needed to ‘jump in’ and darle! And now, HERE WE ARE! All that hard work has transformed one woman’s dream into a reality.
Our Journey
You might be wondering, how did we get to this point? Our founder was motivated to start this company as a leap of faith after years of watching her family work hard for every penny they earned. It was an opportunity to not only have something she could finally call her own but also a way of breaking down barriers in the representation of the Latinx community in the athletic world.
Why "Guerra" Athletics?
Some might be asking why "Guerra" Athletics? Well, the word “guerra” means “war” in Spanish. This mindset reflects our company's determination to ‘go to war’ with the fitness industry to bring more of our cultura into the athletic world.
Additionally, the name “Guerra” Athletics was derived from our founder’s last name, “Oseguera”. Her name is what has rooted her in the culture and heritage that inspired her to start this company in the first place. As a good friend once told her, this company’s name is a “way to extend a part of you onto an even bigger concept and movement”.

GA Founder
Since the age of 9, Irene Oseguera has embodied the values of hard work and determination. Helping her ‘lita’ (abuelita/grandma) clean houses on weekends, picking up cans with her dad, and doing whatever was necessary to support her family taught her invaluable life lessons. These early experiences instilled in Irene the importance of working hard for what she wanted most in life.
Her journey and resilience have inspired Guerra Athletics' core belief: there is nothing like "power, determination y ganas" to get through tough times. Irene’s story and values are woven into the fabric of our brand, driving our mission to empower and inspire others through high-quality, culturally resonant athletic wear.
